PressArea and DFS wins at the Digital Impact Awards with DFS media centre

At a packed event in London’s Park Plaza hotel, PressArea and DFS took the Gold award for the Best Online Newsroom at Communicate Magazine’s European Digital Impact Awards. The Gold award prize was presented by Andrew Thomas, publisher of Communicate Magazine and comedian Luke Kempner.

The DFS media centre enables DFS to host images, videos, press releases and lookbooks for delivery to the media around the world. The site also allows the brand to handle media enquiries and to update information on the work they do with partner organisations and keep the media up to date with their sponsorship of the TeamGB Olympic team.

The Digital Impact Awards were launched in 2010 and honour the best corporate digital communications work in Europe and has created an industry-wide benchmark in digital stakeholder engagement.

The Best Online Newsroom award recognises organisations that successfully make their news easy to access, share and view, for the press, investors and other stakeholders and is adjudged by a panel of 21 experts from businesses and organisations. This year the judging panel included members from Capgemini, Siemens, Rolls Royce, Unilever, Department for Work and Pensions, SGS and the London Stock Exchange Group.

This is the second year PressArea has entered the awards, and it’s also the second year running PressArea has taken the Gold prize. In 2020 PressArea won the Gold Best Online Newsroom award for its work on the Luton Airport newsroom.

Technical Director Marcus Austin said, “We work hard to make sure that all our online newsroom sites are a perfect fit for our clients. We create sites that not only match the look and feel of the client sites and deliver images, video and press releases to the media, but we also add features and functionality that enable the busy teams to streamline and simplify their workloads.”

Adding “We started working with DFS on the project earlier this year. They wanted a site that had some of the design elements of their main DFS e-commerce site, but that also enabled them to show some of the work there were doing with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games TeamGB sponsorship and the work they were doing with third parties and designers.”

Emma Liasides, PR Manager at DFS said, “We’ve found the DFS PressArea site an incredibly useful resource, enabling us to upload and update all of our latest assets for media in one easy-to-use platform, which they can access at any time. We look forward to continuing to work with PressArea over the coming year to enhance our media centre even further.”

On the awards night, Andrew Thomas, publisher of the Communicate magazine, interviewed some of the award winners about the reasons behind their award success. Here’s PressArea’s Nick Osborn explaining the DFS story.
